I'm also stoked about this. Achievements are nice, but the ability to actually earn in-game items, coupons, or DLC by playing games is an awesome incentive to keep playing.

I really enjoy incentives like this. They give me a reason to play games that I may have lost focus on. They also generally provide some new substantial challenges to the game play.

Unless we're talking about browser games like FarmVille, gaming on computers is a niche. Apple has succeeded by building mass-market products and ignoring the needs of niche markets. All the specialized products they make have been killed off or have laid dormant for years. It's hard to blame them for not spending their effort in an area that is unlikely to make them much money.

Actually Trials 2 came out on Steam before HD on XBLA, and I'm pretty sure there was a flash version or something before that.

Have to disagree with turning the music off to help focus. Maybe some people prefer it that way, but I feel it gets the adrenaline pumping (as someone who has had over 100 seconds on Hyper Hexagonest). I've also found that focusing on the game is the wrong way to do it: after a while I find my thoughts wandering off and my fingers manage to do the work for me, rather than the imperfections of my consciousness interfering.
